For the last three years we have had a pair of fly catchers build in a single gourd under a tree between two buildings. About two weeks ago a pair of ASY martins took over their gourd after fighting with the fly catchers for two days. The fly catchers had started building a nest and now the martins have eggs in that nest. Waiting to see what happens since this pair is later than the rest of my colony.

I've seen the PM take on the flycatchers when they were fighting off starlings (good grief!)...I can imagine the tenacity over a nesting sight. I have a laundry list of birds I have seen and want to encourage; flycatchers are at the top with their funny look and hate of starlings!
