O.K. I am looking at getting some kind of device to play my dawn song CD. Be it a clock radio with CD player. I would like it to come on and play most of the day and maybe even shut off at night. That way I do not need to go out and turn it on and off every day. Does any one have a good choice? I would think maybe even jacks for other speakers. I don't want to pay a fortune for it either.
I will take any suggestions. I do not want to run wires from the computer to the martin system either. Are you happy what you have? If not is there something you would buy instead.
Thanks for your replies.

Stephen,
I have an older Sony model #CFD-ZW755 boom box that works really well.
It plugs in inside my gazebo and has speaker jacks so I have a power horn mounted to the facia board pointed up through the middle of my houising.
It's capable of programming to turn on and shut off at any time with a "repeat all" mode it plays from 4am til evening and I don't have to touch it.
I'd recommend something like that if you have power close by and a way to keep it dry.

Stephen,
This is what I did. I have a two vehicle metal car cover (common here in the South) that is located about 45 ft from my poles. I used a cd boom box in the "repeat all" mode and let it play continually 24 hours a day. I connected a set of pc speakers into the speaker jack of the boom box (which silences the boom box speakers). The pc speakers has its own volume control and are 120 volt ac powered. I set the volume on the speakers at the desired level. I then pluged the speakers into a lamp timer that I set for times that I wanted it to play. The only time that I had to do anything to it was if I wanted to reset the time or if I had a power drop where I had to restart the cd. Good Luck.

I would go with the one MB12 mentioned. When I was looking for a dawnsong player many years ago when I got started I could not find one with a programmable start and stop time. I ended up using a CD player alarm clock with 2 alarms. I set it on a crate inside of a trash bag under the eave of my garage to help keep it dry. If the Sony above has an external speaker jack you could set the unit inside of a building and keep it out of the weather. The only thing you need to check is the power output on the external speaker jack. If the power is lower and you try to run a speaker that needs more power you can do some damage trying to run the speaker with not enough power.

I use the Apple IPod to start and stop playing the DawnSong on any schedule I set for as many times as I want. It can also be scheduled to play the daytime chatter. The system is completely contained inside my martin house and it works great. I'm going to test a motion sensing camera app this summer if I'm blessed to get Martins. You can buy a used one off of Craig's list to save $ if you wish.
