- Martin Colony History: Erected 1st house in 1997. Birds were checking it out before Mike got down from the ladder. Six cavities had a little colony 1st year. Grown to 88 cavities all gourds with near 100% occupancy. Most important factor for success is rain = bugs.

Does your housing have SREH? I have found this the best way to defeat the starlings around here. Then you can put up one of those nestbox traps with a big old round hole and catch starling every day...

if you can shoot is the best way it wont bother the martins better get rid of em it dont take a starlin long to do damage

You can use nest traps for your housing look here on the pmca site

but you need to monitor the traps constantly now that the martins are here, my suggestion would be convert your entrances asap B-4 Disaster hits!!!
Shooting will not bother the martins I used to shoot all of the time they will leave & come right back sometimes they will even watch the Trash Beaks Fall, lol,lol,lol

- Martin Colony History: First started in Gretna, La in 1969 with a small homemade house, have had martins ever since at 2 different homes in Texas
Do 3 things:
1)use SREH. Do not wait until next year, change them now!
2)use roundholed traps. Put the traps in an area where the martins will not go, like near some bushes. Keep the trap as far away from humans as you can, the starlings will use it quicker because they become afraid of humans.
3)shoot them, the martins will not leave
