I have 24 nest compartments. Yesterday, I checked them and had 21 martin nests and 3 sparrow nests. I removed the sparrow nests. I have a 2 compartment bait trap on the pole under 8 gourds. I put some dried grass in the trap. I caught 5 female sparrows today. I caught 1 male earlier in in the week, so there were 2 males still in the area. After catching the 5 females today, the males have not been around. I am hoping that the extra martins will move into the 3 compartments before the sparrows return. The 2 compartment bait trap that is offered in the PMCA store works very well.

I came home from work today and had 2 more female sparrows in the trap. Before dark, I caught another female and 2 males. Once you get a female in the center compartment for bait, the trap is awesome. I have water and food cups secured to the sides to keep the decoy lively. I use a mesh laundry bag to remove the ones for disposal. I slip it over 1 end all the way to the center compartment and put my hand under the edge with it help tightly to prevent escape.

Kelly,
Sounds like I need you at my house for about 30 minutes!
