Tonight at 6:32 p.m. I had two ASYs circle my colony. One finally landed for about 10 minutes and listened to the dawnsong and sharpened his bill on the roost rod. As soon as he took off Sharon lowered the Trio houses with gourds under and opened four doors because they have round holes. The gourd rack are all crescents and they have been open for about a week. They took off South and never returned tonight. The direction they flew there are a couple of plastic barn houses about a mile that have sparrows. I surely hope they decide mine are much nicer with soft pine needles and a very handsome landlord

We hear of these stories allot.
If those martins just knew...Yeah if they just knew we are trying our best to give them good housing with ALL the amenities , bed & breakfast , larger living spaces , predator guards , perching and preening areas, already supplied nest material, elevated subfloors, hand warmers if it's too cold etc., etc.,...

....if they only knew.

Glad to hear they are getting up our way Paul. With the weather today I was watching the skies a lot. I hope they come back to your site.

YAY, Paul! I was thinking of you yesterday....hoping I would see your post about martins! I sent a few on their way yesterday with a "martin" road map to Macon.  Told them to look for the finest housing in Macon that is sparrow & starling free!

Today is going to be 79 degrees with a 35-40 MPH southerly wind!! I hope you have your binoculars and an easy chair and a place to sit in the shade outside because I imagine the martins are going to be hitting MO borders hard today!

Wishing you the best, Paul!

Thanks guys

I'm sure they'll be back now that they know where I am. After all, who loves them more than I. I'm chompin' to get up to the cabin after church to see who came in this morning. (with coffee)

There must be something dead in the area. There has been four turkey buzzards circling this area for three or four days. I don't think martins have any fear of them though.

Cav, where are you located? Haven't figured you out yet :)

Kathy, thanks for sending them. Just tell them to keep on Hwy 63
