I have a pair nesting right off our deck, on a 12 foot light post. Last year We named him Bruno and she is Lucy. He is a 3 year old ASY male, this year he has a different Lucy (Lucy2) as she is banded and younger than last years mate. Any way, they have a nest built but no green leaves yet. During the snow storm Bruno ate lots of EggMcmeal and stayed in good shape. I am not so sure about Lucy 2 as she stayed in the compartment most of the time.( I have a nest cam). Yesterday after the snow melted they both left and have not been back. My guess is that she was stressed out and went from the nesting mode to the survival mode.
Bruno......I think is staying with her. At least that is my take on things. She probably is at a near by lake feeding hard to get back into shape to lay eggs. Only time will tell if I am right, this is only my thought on this. Mean while as the Martins are all out feeding again and spending time away from the colony, I have about 4 pairs of Sparrows trying to move in, 2 have already died, I will not allow them to take advantage of this situation. Sparrows, if not dealt with they will take quick advantage of this situation as I have already witnessed. Hope Bruno and Lucy2 Return home soon. I will keep you posted. .

Hi Bob
We sure love our martins and I hope they return too. I put up my Oyster Bar but just some swallows sitting on the plexiglass. Give the martins lots of time to hoepfully use it. Lots of oyster shells on the base.

Stay in touch April, they will use the Oysterbar eventually. Bruno has not returned yet. Wierd......I can't figure this one out. Mean while a pair of subbies have moved into his compartment. Life goes on! I still think he will return with a new female. Just have to wait and see.
