Hey Crnman3 , At most colony's the martins were late this year because of the hard winter that we had , I am sure the rest of your martins will be home soon !
Best of luck this season . April

Hang in there. In N Arkansas I am seeing new arrivals most every day. No SY arrivals.

Mine are late as well as my neighbors. I have lived across from her going on 5 years now and of those years this is first time she has had only a handful. She keeps very accurate records, saves and tracks the commings and goings of them. She will be 80 in June, and says just be patient, they'll arive, they know more about their situation than we do! :) :) :!:

Last year this time I had 12 pairs, this year so far I have 6 pair. Hope more are on the way. My friend about 3 miles away hasn't any yet and he always has 12 pair by now. I'm waiting & waiting & well OK

thanks everybody

you have given me some hope anyway

guess it is not that something has happened to my colony

looks like it is happening everywhere and the weather was definitely colder everywhere this year

hopefully everybody's martins will be at their homes soon

I'm in Jackson too and haven't seen any, at least at my house. I put it up a couple of weekends ago. I've killed three starlings off of it in that time, so all the effort of modifying the house hasn't gone to waste I guess...

The wife and I walk through the neighborhood in the afternoons and I've seen a pair hanging out at a particular house. There don't seem to be any martin houses nearby, and they just sit on the gutters and ridge of the house. They put on a nice show when we walk by; I don't know if they're just taking a break before they go further north or if they have a nest somewhere I can't see, but my house is only a mile away. I wish they'd come my way!

It look like the scout report is showing the scouts showing up in our state over the last few weeks. If I understand it correctly, we should be getting the younger birds over the next month, or at least until the end of this month.

I know you have to be patient, but it's hard waiting to see them.
