Martins back in Michigan

I was hanging gourds on no. 2 rack tonight with my granddaughter and neighbor kids when what do I hear? The familiar sound of the purple martin. I looked up in the sky and there was the beautiful sight of an asy male martin hovering high up above us. I pointed it out to the kids and they were sure excited. After we hung the gourds, the kids had to have a tractor ride of course. But when we all left the immediate area down he swooped and found the gourd he wanted for the night. Let the season begin!

Isn't that first time you see one so exciting? Especially when you see them go into the housing for the night!

Yes it sure is exciting at the beginning of the season. I thought I would get use to it, but it always gets this ole heart pumping.
