I had 10 martins last night and I've seen 12 this morning plus 4 TS, and 2 Eastern Kingbirds. The weather is going to be nice for the next week so the martins should really be moving!

Ron, these might be the very best flying female and male martin photos I have ever seen.

Thanks!

I agree, I've never seen better.

Notice the small holes in the tail feathers of the male. We have noticed that in Sacramento in the birds we measure and band. Does anyone know the cause of this phenomenon?

Dan,

We've seen that on PMCA birds too. I'll have to see if I can find something out, I believe someone said something about growth rings in the feathers, but it was so long ago I don't trust my memory. Neat that Ron's photos document it so nicely!
