We have a resident flock of crows who have been taking great delight in harrassing a new owl I heard last week across the creek on our wooded hilltop. They have discovered him/her, and have been relentless. Lucky me, I have owl number two to worry about now

Well, well. Not five minutes after posting this thread, I'm sitting here at the computer, looking out the window across the field, and lo and behold, who is sitting on the power line about three hundred feet from one of the martin houses? Where are the crows when you need 'em?

We have thirty or so crows that flock and nest in the woods behind my property. I love having them around. I see them mobbing hawks all the time. I'm sure they give the neighboring owls a hard time also.

The newest addition is a Great Horned. The one that lives in the wooded area on the front of our property is a Barred. I haven't heard her in awhile, but I have no doubt she is still there. We'll see come Spring.

That's about how many we have living here. They've been here for years, and I love them. They are quite smart and very persistent.

We have a resident owl that sometimes stays in my backdoor neighbor's oak tree. He wasn't there last year. Haven't seen him in a month. Hopefully he moved on.

May I ask, where west of Ft. Worth do you live? Daily I am reminding my son to hurry and get his martin houses up/ the martins are close to him. He is south of Weatherford approx. 6 miles. He was telling me last night, an employee of his lives in that area and the deer are coming up his fenced yard, getting in and eating all the shrubbery. He has dogs,but seems the dogs are very friendly toward the deer, like come on over, let's be friends, glad to have you. The son promised to get on line last night and order the system. He is going to get the gourds, which with his place will be attractive. Also not far from that spot will be installing a merry-go-round that has been passed through three generations. Now his little grandsons will be flying around as did their great-grand-father on the same merry-go-round.

Delma, we're about 2 or 3 miles west of your son, as the crow flies.
Haven't seen any martins yet, but one of the houses is up, and the other will soon be.

I like my crows too! They seem to give hawks "down in the country" when they come around
