Got my Winter Purple Martin Update this weekend and wanted to say how much I enjoyed the cover story about Ray Marr's efforts in Rhode Island. It's written by his martin friend, Barry Picard.

Ray is working on public sites in an area where purple martins are in danger of disappearing -- and where most folks don't even know what a martin is. Very inspiring -- great work Ray.

I have not received my Update yet, but I heard before how involved Ray is in educating people about the martins and trying to keep or increase the numbers of them up in Rhode Island. Congratulations on your article in the Update....can't wait to read it

Hi John
And everyone Thanks...
I really feel one person can make a difference with Martins. And things happen for reason. Had that storm in 2005 never happen I probably would
never become the advocate i am today. Yes i do miss my old site lost in the
storm but my two country club sites and college site are something i truly enjoy. My old farm site was seen only by a handful of people. My new sites
are seen by hundreds. And from people all across the country. Thanks
to the RI school of Design. My former site has a gourd rack left for martins
its 30 miles north of these sites should they return and prime location on a lake with another 100 acres of open space. The site was 11 years old. And
the only Colony north of Providence. i could never imagine myself with no martins. What ever happens dont give up help others and keep the martins
flying!!! Ray

Ray, that was a great article about you, and now I'm even more excited to start my new colony in Little Compton.

My brother-in-law lives in Lincoln. Do you think it would be worth a try there also?

:o)
