May I please get help determining sexes
I can sometimes be really dense in certain things ( most things really lol) but I need help trying to determine the sex of these 4 PM’s. I really don’t know if these pictures are good enough to tell. If not, I will try and get better pictures when I can. Thank you

Re: First eggs of the season
Good morning. It’s okay Mr Phil, no worries. Today I sit here with binoculars and I actually believe that I have three females with one lone male in the bunch. He’s been here since March 6. I have called myself looking good at the Martins and determining male/female ratio. I also noticed mating goin...

Re: First eggs of the season
Good evening Mr Phil. I’m reading your message but not in a timely manner to get your advice. This morning I looked out and saw nest building materials in the beak of a female. This went on a couple hours. Early afternoon when I noticed everyone was gone, I let the house down and there nests were be...

Re: First eggs of the season
Correction, yes sir Mr Phil, actively building this morning. They were quite yesterday and didn’t make much noise, I just figured the females were laying.
Yesterday was Sunday, they observed a day of rest, lol ( who knows?)

Re: First eggs of the season
Mr Phil, it’s been 3 days since nest building began(17th) and as of today there doesn’t seem to be nest building now.
When do you think it would be safe for me to let down house and check?

Re: Linda M’s 2025 PM Reports
Amen and Amen Mr Thomas!!! Just to clarify the confusion of my earlier post. What I meant by the crying had stopped is this, since March 6 all of my posts have been negative in content because of bluebirds fighting Martins and Martins behavior not lining up with what I expected from them. Truth is, ...

Linda M’s 2025 PM Reports
Good morning all my PM friends and new found family. The crying has stopped and the reporting has begun for My documented 2025 Martin Babies. I am looking and watching and can safely report 3 females and yes 3 nests earlier reported with leaves in them Today they are acting, in my mind like my old P...

Re: First eggs of the season
Yes sir, Mr Phil, there are 2 females actively building nests this morning. I actually got up earlier so I could monitor, lol. Let me tell you something funny, I would have to go back and look, it may have been you or either Mr Brent that explained how that females build nests and males ( the dogs, ...

Re: First eggs of the season
Such helpful and informative information. Thank you so much Mr Phil. Mr Phil, I thought of another question. Should I place pine straw on the porch to help with nest building? I have TS-12 I believe is the # of rooms. I’m telling you name of house so that you might know what I mean by the porch area...

Re: First eggs of the season
I have renewed hope Mr Thomas, lol. I racked my brain because I knew in the past years I got other birds later than right now. I stated in another post green leaves and 1 straw that when I let down house yesterday I had leaves in 3 nests and 1 lone pine straw in another so yes they are sneaky. I hav...

Re: First eggs of the season
Good evening Mr Phil and my other PM friends. So hating read nest egg report and the amount of nest you have, that is awesome!! So that’s what’s going on here in Northern La. Re: Green leaves in nest and 1 straw in nest
Oh yes, I just thought of one more question, those little metal trays inside the trendsetter, this is probably a crazy question but I want to make sure. Is the wire mesh supposed to be positioned where it’s holding the Martin up off the floor?
Thank you!

Re: Green leaves in nest and 1 straw in nest
Mr Brent, thank you for responding. This evening late, as usual, here comes an entourage of 5 PM’s bringing in their lady. I was tending to chickens so I definitely could have missed a lady. Mr Brent, do males spend the night? Don’t both male and female build the nest? Thank you!! Sincerely, Linda f...
