Re: Thank you all...
Well modifying the gourds did not help. As I watched, the wretched starlings just went right into the raised porch gourds as if they belonged there. Mr. Crosman will handle this situation. Stay tuned.. I agree! I was out watching the birds just the other day and watched a couple of starlings repeat...

We definitely have hawks in Round Rock. I see them around the golf course all the time. Sometime you will hear them calling to each other as they fly. So you know, we also have an abundance of Great Horn Owls and other types too. Several times I have caught them (hawks and owls) sitting on top of th...

Hi Neighbors! I had a bunch of subbies hanging around for a couple of days last week. Looks like they moved on now; but we had lots of activity for awhile. I also have had a couple of days when there were over 12 pair all roosting on the house, flying together, and generally having a great old time!...

Every year I get 2 or 3 yellow beaks that insist on roosting on top of the PM hotel every morning. They can't seem to get into any of the SREH's; but that doesn't stop them from trying. While they are roosting the PM's will swoop at them over and over; but it really seems to have no effect on the ST...

So far I have 3 pairs but no subbies yet. hopefully I will get a full house soon. The population seems to increase a bit each weekend. The damn sparrows are a real pain this year and I am having a real hard time keeping them in check. Starlings have also been a bit of a problem. The like to roost on...

I live in Round Rock and my house and several of the neighboring landlords are all full. At last count I had 14 pair and a number of fledglings. Mine showed up a bit late, about mid March, but they have made up for the late arrival by really getting to work! We live on a golf course. The Dragon Flie...

Which Golf course in Round Rock? I live on the Forest Creek Golf course in Round Rock. The R7 is definitely a fine gun. You will not regret the quality of this weapon. Personally; I have no problem killing Starlings and Sparrows at 40 to 50 yards with my vintage Crosman 766 with Scope. It shoots .17...

So far we seem to have 3 pairs, and 4 SY males. I am still hoping that the extra male will make it 4 pairs. Several days I have seen some visitors ASY males and some extra SY males. So I have hopes that a few more pairs will materialize. Sparrows have been a real pain so far this year. So far I have...

No shortage of Starlings or Grackles here. In fact, they may be the most ever. Fortunately they seem to be avoiding my PM house and not roosting in the trees here. Hoping it stays that way. I have SREH crescents and I mounted some porches on the two attic dormers on my house. So far the Starlings ha...

Malcolm nailed it, it is an all plastic house with 9 6x6 rooms on each side. The 2 attic rooms are a bit larger about 6 x 18. I don't know who the mfg. of the house was and have never been able to find any on the internet. I inherited the house from a prior owner, have taken it apart several times t...

Malcom and Joe, Thanks for the report on the parade. I listened to some of it on WWL AM 870 on my way home from a work event. WWL comes in very clear during the winter here and its good to get a strong dose of YAT every week or so. I still have 4 brothers and a sister in the NOLA area; so we do make...

I made some porches out of sheet metal and attached them to the two top compartments on my PM house. Last year I had repeated problems with Starlings inhabiting these compartments. Glad to say that I have watched the Starlings on several occasions trying to enter these compartments after the porches...

WHO DAT NATION Rallies again!
Wish I was there too! My wife and I grew up in Metaire. it was great seeing the Saints win the NFC, go to the Superbowl, and then WIN the whole thing. First class all the way. You guys have fun at the parade. Jealous in Round Rock! No PM's seen here yet, no parade tonight! javascript:emoticon('')

Starlings sighted! Time to act.
I looked out the window of my hobby room this morning and noted two large Starlings perched on top of my purple martin house. All last season I battled on and off with the Starlings. I noted that they had problems getting into the SREH holes on the sides of the house and did not nest in any of these...
