bees

I have 30 Hives of bees at two locations. Both places have martins landlords. One is mine and the other is at a friend house. I have seen no risk at either locations. The bird that most worries me is the Summer Tanager. They are known bee eaters. I see them hanging around my bees in early summer and...

I have chickens and have to remove coons all the time. I use a dukes dog proof coon trap.It catches them around the wrist. Then i relocate them to coon haven. That way they are not a nuisance to someone else.

Re: Strange Find?

How could the mink or owl access the gourd (SREH) and provide such a clean kill and leave the bird inside the gourd with the access port secure? Dennis Dennis an owl can't enter a sreh but a mink can go in a one inch opening. I had one get in my chicken house and kill eleven hens by cutting their t...

The reason i got so many that first year was that i have some neighbors with crappy housing. I think that pulled them away from them.

When we built our new house about eight years ago it was in middle of cut over. I sold the timber to build the house. Any way i took a bulldozer and pushed back about four acres. The housing that i put up was close to the edge of the cutover about twenty yards witch is now a thicket. It is now about...

Had a large colony

In 2008 i started hosting martins and great success with 22 pair that first year. They grew in numbers from there(2009,2010). Then i had a knee replacment and had some compilations (pulmonary embolism) and other things. I was unable to put up my housing in 2011 so i stayed out until this year. I am ...
