Re: Failed Scout Report

I cannot log in to make my report either! I had 3 adult males this morning perched on the top perches, but I do not have my gourds out yet. Got to get that done today!

Thank you! I have plenty of crickets in the deep freeze and will do my best to take care of my birds! But just wish the martins would hold off for a little while longer.
Good luck to all of you!

Way, way too EARLY for Missouri!

Hello everyone! I live in southeast Missouri and I had just gotten home from work around 2:40 p.m. I heard a wonderful sound...went outside and sure enough, I saw & heard a male martin. Didn't have my gourds up yet but quickly got four put up. He waited on one of the other gourd rack perches til...

Martins in Missouri

Just had my first martin show up this afternoon in southeast Missouri. Thought I saw one yesterday at dusk on the perch, but he flew away. I did not have the gourds put up yet. Today I put up one gourd rack and then he flew over making that beautiful chortle sound. He doesn't have the best timing! S...

I just purchased 4 new Conley II tunnels to use on my Troyer horizontal gourds. I installed them on Sunday and by Monday morning observed two starlings zipping in and out with no trouble at all! I am mad!!!:x Has anyone else had this problem recently? If so, other than trapping, what did you do to c...

Thanks Louise, I did put the porches on where the manufacturer suggested and now I realize (too late) they are too low. I will move them up closer to flush with the entrance. I put a trap into that gourd and I barely caught one starling this morning. The trap did not work properly. The starling got ...

I got starling troubles too. This morning I saw 2 starlings going in one of my excluder gourds with the SREH. I was just sick. :-( These starlings have been guarding this gourd for 3 weeks but never entered. I had a pair of martins staying in there too. I didn't have time to check the gourd this mor...

Frank, I reported one martin on February 25th which is the earliest date that any have shown up at my home. There are now 10 martins staying. I live in Southeast Missouri approximately 20 miles southeast of Sikeston and 20-25 miles west of the Mississippi River. Since it is going to be warmer this w...

Jack, Just be prepared. I don't live to far from you and as of today I have 4 martins. I saw my first last Monday. It was a warm day then it turned very cold for three more days. Yesterday I had a pair and today 3 females and 1 male. I also have a few crickets ready cause the weather is suppose to g...

Hello Aaron, I live approximately 150 miles north of you and I had martins the last day of February last year. I say go ahead and play the dawn song. It just may bring them to you. Once when I was trying to get martins, I played the dawn song and happened to look out and saw a martin sitting on the ...

Uh oh! Gene.

You have really done it now!!! Better do as Harley says and get another cherry tree and a very good quality diamond ring to go along with it. Apologize very sweetly and sincerely; and then get OUT THERE AND PUT UP THOSE GOURD RACKS!!!!!!!!!

Good Luck to you!

Craig,
I congratulate you, too. I also had the best year ever. My martins have been gone for three weeks now. Still have a few that stop on their way south! I wish that albino martin would come by and stay awhile. I'd really love to see one!

Hello Starling Shooter, This sounds interesting! If you have the time, please tell me how to rig the 3 pool cues together to plug the hole. I have a terrible time with sparrows that are just too smart to get in my bait trap and this year I have starlings that are getting through the crescent holes w...
