Air rifle steady
I once shot an expert score in the military, but not anymore. Seems really hard for me to get "steady." Anyone have advice on steadiness devices such as bags or tripods? Thanks

Red Dot
Anyone with any experience using red dot siting on their pellet guns? I'm looking at upgrading pellet guns and adding a 'nice' scope or red dot. Thought?

Re: S.E. Louisiana landlords .. martins feasting on love bugs?
Hi Thomas… I researched your post. It says that it is a myth, that birds don’t eat them.. rising from the incorrect thought that people believed the love bugs were acidic, because they damage the paint on your car, when smashed. It’s actually the microorganisms that feed on the dead love bugs that ...

Agree with all of the above! Out of curiosity, do the female HOSPs take revenge like the males do?

Crazy, but amazing. I'm glad to see that they are fierce fighters. Hopefully, they use that on the HOSPS!

Awesome! Blink cameras are a nice product. I installed them in my BB box this year and definitely feel I have already got my worth!

Re: New to Purple Martins
I agree with CC. Also, maybe throw in a small amount of pinestraw into some of the cavities. Like he said, play the Dawn Song. Check out the Song Bird magnet. Your odds seem definitely in your favor. Good luck !

Re: Nest Checks
CC, I waited until they had mostly finished their nest, then put a piece of sticky rat paper in that cavity. I placed a makeshift 1 and 3/8 inch hole cut out of plastic over the cavity hole to prevent the PMs from entering. I caught him by his foot. I placed him in my trap and he lured her into the ...

Re: Nest Checks
I just caught the last nesting pair of HOSPS this morning, so I'm going to leave the house alone for at least a week. If not anything, it will make me feel better.

HOSP Update
I was down to 1 nesting pair of HOSPS until this morning. I was able to trap the male in their cavity with sticky rat paper. He was caught with only his foot stuck. I relocated him to my trap. A few hours later, he drew in the female. I will leave it out tonight just to see if I can catch anymore, t...

Nest Checks
I've been lowering my PM house frequently trying to trap HOSPs. Just curious about checking too much. I know they don't generally seem to mind, but my colony is very new and I doubt there is a bond with the few pms I have. I know not to bother when the babies are close to fledging.

Re: HOSP decoys
I have a 16 cavity box on a 3 inch square aluminum pole with a winch. I have a separate box on another pole with BBs currently with eggs. I also have another BB nest box that I could use for the trap, but have never had HOSPS try to use it. Did you modify the hole on your cavity trap? As far as shoo...
